792,403. Mining apparatus. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. July 19, 1956 [Jan. 26, 1956], No. 22437/56. Class 68(1) An auger A for a mining machine is adjustably disposed within a shield 1 having apertures 2 and a helical rib 5. When the auger is retracted relative to the shield clutch elements 3, 4 are engaged to permit the shield to rotate with the auger, deflectors being provided to protect the clutch members, (see Fig. 7, not shown).
