Abstract

791,601. Milling. FUNDITOR, Ltd., and SPITTLE, W. R. May 25, 1956 [May 31, 1955], No. 15652/55. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIV] A vertically-displaceable circular saw and milling-machine for stereo plates &c. comprises a saw blade 3, Fig. 3, which when raised projects through a work-table 7, and milling blades 4 which are rendered operative by further raising the tool unit and motor 1 to the position shown in Fig. 6, a section 26 of the table 7 being pivoted at 27 to allow this movement. The tools are provided with a guard (see Group XXIV) comprising a hood 8 pivoted at 13 to the table 7 and a dust-retaining side-shield 15, which may be of " Perspex " (Registered Trade Mark), pivoted at 16 to the hood 8. A wheel 10 on the hood 8 rides on a workpiece 23 clamped to a hand-feeding device 24. In the milling position shown in Fig. 6, the section 26 holds the shield 15 raised while the hood 8 remains on the table 7. The shield may be mounted for linear instead of pivotal movement and the hood may have a shield on each side.
