Abstract

A detergent composition with a liquid to pastelike consistency contains (a) 1.8-4 per cent, preferably not more than 3 per cent, of polyvinyl alcohol; (b) finely divided siliceous material, such as finely ground diatomite or quartz, preferably in a proportion not exceeding 15 per cent; and (c) an emulsifier, such as glycerol mono- or di-stearate or a mixture of saturated fatty alcohols with fatty alcohol sulphates and non-ionic emulsifiers, the composition having a pH of 2-5 or 8-11. The pH may be suitably adjusted either with such weak acids as lactic, citric or acetic acid, or with weak bases such as borax or waterglass. Vegetable drugs, starch, bole and perfumes may each be added in quantities preferably not exceeding 5 per cent, and ethanol may also be present.ALSO:A cosmetic skin-cleansing detergent composition having a liquid to pastelike consistency contains (a) 1.8-4 per cent, preferably not more than 3 per cent, of polyvinyl alcohol; (b) finely divided siliceous material, such as finely ground diatomite or quartz, preferably in a proportion not exceeding 15 per cent; and (c) an emulsifier, such as glycerol mono- or di-stearate or a mixture of saturated fatty alcohols with fatty alcohol sulphates and non-ionic emulsifiers, the composition having a pH of 2-5 or 8-11.
