[Also in Group XXVIII] A flexible sealing ring 4 fitting around the end of a pipe 2 inserted within a socket 3 permits limited axial and angular movement between the pipe and socket. In Fig. 1, the ring 4 has a rim fitting in a groove in the socket and its internal diameter is less than the outer diameter of the spigot. The ring may have a reinforced rim. In Fig. 3, the ring comprises a conically-shaped sleeve which has external projections 18, 19 and internal grooves so that it may be folded like a concertina.
