Abstract

795,285. Ice-cream servers. EKCO PRODUCTS CO. Sept. 12, 1955 [Sept. 17, 1954], No. 26001/55. Class 87(2). The scraper 21 of an ice-cream server is rotated around the inside of the scoop by pulling a lever 15 until it abuts against the handle 13. The other end of the lever has a racked quadrant 37 which rotates a pinion keyed to the shaft of the scraper. A locking member 17 is also keyed to the shaft, and has a recessed part (see Fig. 7, not shown) to allow it to be moved to the right as shown in Fig. 2 over the teeth of the pinion. The quadrant has a large tooth 138 to ensure that it does not move off the pinion. The lever is returned by a spring 16. To dismantle the parts for cleaning, the lower part of the handle 13 is unscrewed, to allow the quadrant to move off the pinion, when the lever 15 is moved inwardly, thus allowing the scraper element to be removed from the scoop as in this position the recessed part of the locking element may be moved over the teeth of the pinion.
