Abstract

780,878. Wall-plugs &c. HUNN, A. E. M. March 9, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6874/55. Class 89(1) A wall-plug comprises a body 1 tapering from a substantially oval cross-section at its leading end 8a to a circular cross-section 6<SP>1</SP> at or near its trailing end. A slit 7, which may be tapered, extends longitudinally from the leading end, and the periphery of the body is formed with, e.g. annular grooves 11 of saw-tooth cross-section. The axial bore 10 may be plain to receive a self-tapping screw, or formed with a thread complementary to the screw 5 with which it is to be used. A truncated conical portion 9 may be provided at the trailing end of the plug. When the plug is inserted in a hole 2 of a wall &c. 3, of substantially the same diameter as cross-section 6<SP>1</SP>, the slit is closed, and then opened to cause the plug to grip the wall, by inserting the screw. The body may have external longitudinal grooves.
