Class 64(3) An air-cooled steam condenser comprises heat exchange elements extending radially between inner and outer concentric cylinders 14, 11, each element comprises a bank of vertical finned tubes 16, baffles 7 being provided between adjacent elements and connected at one end to the lower end of an element and at the other end to the upper part of an adjacent element such that each element extends diagonally across an air passage defined by two adjacent baffles and by portions of the inner and outer cylinders 14, 11, steam being condensed in the elements by air drawn over them by a fan 8. The inner and outer cylinders 14, 11 may be made of concrete. The fins 17 (Fig. 3), provided on the tubes 16 are disposed at an angle to the tube axis to minimize air resistance.
