Abstract
786,632. Thermionic valves. M-O. VALVE CO., Ltd., and WINDSOR, L. R. E. Aug. 23, 1954 [Sept. 4, 1953], No. 24526/53. Class 39(1). A thermionic valve has an elongated thermionic cathode 1 located by at least one mica plate 2 disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cathode adjacent one end thereof, the cathode passing through an aperture 3 in the plate 2 and being pressed against the V-shaped sides 5 thereof by a flexible tongue 7 formed in the plate and having slots 6 on either side thereof. The plate 2 has apertures for locating one or more support wires 4 for electrodes in addition to the cathode, the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 being applicable to a pentode. The cathode 1 and other electrodes can be located by mica plates at each end thereof, both plates being of the form described above or one of them being such as to hold the cathode rigidly. Additional mica plates may be provided to locate one or more electrodes not located by the plate 2 serving to locate the cathode.
