Abstract
A tubeless pneumatic tyre has an air-retaining liner, provided on at least one surface of one or more of the carcass plies, comprising a rubbery material containing at least 20 per cent, by weight of rubber, of a butadiene-styrene copolymer having a styrene content of 40 to 80 per cent. The liner preferably comprises 20 to 50 per cent of Hevea rubber and/or 20 to 60 per cent of butyl rubber or butyl reclaim, e.g. 20 to 40 per cent of the copolymer, 25 to 40 per cent of Hevea rubber and 40 to 50 per cent of butyl rubber. The butyl rubber may have been modified with a limited amount of dinitrosobenzene as described in Specification 746,727. The liner compositions may include carbon black and/or other fillers such as the hydrated silica described in Specification 715,244, together with the usual compounding and vulcanizing agents. The silica may be used in conjunction with a reaction product of diethylene glycol and cyclohexenyltrichlorosilane as described in Specification 714,121.
