Abstract

784,909. Dry shavers. BAKKER, W. Feb. 24, 1955, No. 5539/55. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises at least one rotated cutter element. at least one rotatable, coaxial, cutting plate movable in axial direction and against which the cutter element is spring urged, and a locking nut for the cutter element and cutting plate, the or each cutting plate berotated by a shaft 20 and are rockably mounted and biased by springs 26, 27. The inner rings are provided with sharp edges 14, 15, adjacent chamfered edges 18, 19 of the cutting plates to deter the entry of cut hairs into the bearings of the cutting plates and have obliqe projections and recesses which collect cut hair from the bearings. Cut hair collects in a chamber 32 having a slide closure 33 and is kept ing driven by the co-operating cutter element. As shown, cutting plates 5, 1 are mounted with clearance between annular abutments 7, 4 of wear-resistant material, such as nylon, pressed into the locking nut 8 and cutting plate 5, respectively, and inner rings 10, 11, the cutting plates being axially movable and carried round, frictionally, by cutter elements 22, 3 which are from the shaft bearings by blades 35. The locking nut 8 has a rounded tip 37 to raise the hair for cutting and in the modification having a single cutting plate the nut has concave inner, outer and top surfaces.
