Abstract

784,036. Conductors. HOHN, R. Feb. 7, 1956 [Nov. 7, 1955], No. 3837/56. Addition to 765,412. Class 36. The flexible conductor disclosed in the parent Specification is provided with an exterior covering capable of absorbing radial forces produced by electromagnetic field effects. The covering may comprise an open braiding and/or a closed film and may be of a polymer such as a polyamide or a polymethane. When used as a water-cooled welding lead the conductor 14 is surrounded by a flexible hose 8 and is soldered in terminal 9 provided with bores 11, 12 for the water. The hose 8 is secured to the terminal 9 by clips 10 and the conductor covering comprising an open binding 6 and braiding 7 is secured in constrictions 13 in the terminal. The component strands of the conductor are preferably laid in the same direction and with the same length of lay, and each of the component strands may consist of concentric layers of wires, the outer layer being laid in the opposite direction to the other layers.
