Abstract

779,203. Furniture combinations. SKELTON, J. H., and AUSTIN, F. J. Nov. 30, 1955 [Jan. 7, 1955], No. 525/55. Class 52 (3). A combined seat and ironing board, school desk or the like comprises two frame members pivoted together at 7 and 8 and having long and short upstanding limbs 1, 3 and 2, 4 respectively, the board top being supported by the limbs 1, 3 and the seat by limbs 2, 4. The upper end of each limb is bent inwardly as at 9 to 12, and the ends 9, to pivot in cylindrical sleeves 13, 17 attached to the underside of the board top and the seat. The end 11 is moved along the underside of the top when the legs are opened and is engaged by a spring clip 16. The end 12 associated with the seat moves freely in a slide 19, although a ratchet arrangement combined with a series of spring clips on the board top may be provided to allow adjustment of the height of the combination.
