[Also in Groups X and XXVIII] In a modification of the end fitting claimed in Claim 1 of the parent Specification, the inner wall is formed by an abutment 5 which extends over a part only of the inner surface of the outer wall 2 so as to support that portion of the inserted tube 7 adapted to be clamped by a grub screw 4 penetrating the outer wall 2; the abutment 5 may also comprise two, as shown, or more members 6. The wall 2 of a cylindrical metallic or plastic end cap is formed with a tapped enlargement 3 to receive the screw 4 whilst integral with the end wall of the cap is the boss 5; one of the oppositely disposed abutments 6 is arranged to directly support that portion of the tube clamped by the screw 4. The boss may be formed of any number of integral or separate abutments and the fitting may be such as to co-operate with tubes of non-circular section; the wall 2 may be discontinuous.
