Abstract
756,404. Scaffold clamps. ACKERMAN, P. I. July 1, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 19293/5.4. Class 20(2). A scaffold clamp comprises a base part 1 having arms 1a and 1b at right angles, each arm having a groove 2, 3 to receive a tube B, C, and a curved seating in the angle of the two arms and a clamping plate 7 adapted to clamp a third tube A against the seating. The tubes B, C are clamped to the arms 1a, 1b by U-shaped stirrups 9, 10 the legs of which pass through openings in the arms 1a, 1b and in the arms of plate 7. The tightening nuts 11 thereby serve to clamp all three tubes at once. Integral lugs 13, 14 on the arm 7a of the clamp plate cause clamping pressure to be applied to the tube A when only the stirrup 9 is tightened. This facilitates the operation of positioning the tubes within the clamp.
