As shown, a small fish figure is provided With a spring driving mechanism which is wound by unwinding a thread 7 from a bobbin 2, the thread being attached to a larger second fish figure having no driving mechanism. The small figure is provided with a slide member 9 having its rear end upturned, and a tail portion 22 is rounded for sliding engagement with a portion 15 of a pivoted upper jaw of the larger figure. A slide member 19 for engagement by the slide 9 is provided in the base of the larger figure and has the free end of the thread 7 7 attached to its inner end. After the driving mechanism is wound, the thread 7 becomes rewound on the bobbin and the larger figure is thus drawn to the small figure as the latter travels forwardly and eventually passes into the larger figure which has its upper jaw raised by the tail of the small figure. The sliding engagement of the members 9, 19 causes the running wheels of the small figure to be raised clear of their running surface and the resulting acceleration of the driving mechanism produces a momentary speeding up of the small figure as it passes into the larger figure, the upper jaw of the larger figure then falling to its closed position. The figures may comprise a cat and mouse, a dog and a rabbit or a lizard and an insect.
