755,806. Machine-tool details. MASCHINEN-FABRIK HEID AKT.-GES. Oct. 15, 1954 [Oct. 15, 1963], No. 29745(54. Class 83 (3). A lathe &c. has carriage guideways 1, 2, with surrounding walls 7-10 to form oil troughs which are covered by telescopic plates 20, 21, extending between the carriage and the two ends of the bed. The saddle &c. 19 has a front V-guide 11 and a flat rear guide 12 which slide along the correspondingly-shaped guideways 1, 2, respectively of the bed. The latter have walls 7-10 which surround the guide parts and extend sufficiently above them to form oil troughs in which the oil level is maintained above the level of the sliding surfaces. The side walls are spaced away from these surfaces so as to give space for the oil to pass the moving carriage guides. Oil passages 13, 14 are also provided in the latter to feed oil directly on to the sliding faces.
