Abstract

Dished end caps support a spindle and single or double yoke handle, and the cloth may overhang the ends of the roller and be gripped between the caps and the end of the roller. Lugs punched in the roller may secure a balancing strip opposite the clip 6, and the cloth 1 and roller 4 may be perforated. In another embodiment a longitudinal groove in a metal roller receives the meeting edges of the cloth 1 which may be stitched together. The walls of the groove are pressed together and bent towards the wall of the roller to grip the cloth. In a further embodiment the ends 23 of the cloth 24 are passed through a gap 22 in the roller, which may be metal or plastic, a clip 25 securing the assembly, Fig. 11. Alternatively, a wire spring clip may engage longitudinal recesses in the outer walls 20, 21 of the gap. In another embodiment, the roller, which may be of rigid material, is corrugated longitudinally, the stitched edges of the cloth lying in one of the corrugations. Again, Fig. 13, the stitched edges 32 of the cloth 33 enter a gap 35 in a metal or plastic roller 36, a rod 37 being inserted between the edges of the cloth to tension it.
