Abstract
746,206. Self-propelled missiles. AKTIEBOLAGET BOFORS. April 2, 1954 [April 7, 1953], No: 9756/54. Class 9(2) A rocket motor 1 to which a warhead 2 may be attached is provided with a nozzle 3 within which vanes 4 are arranged. Resting against the vanes is a disc 5 fitted with a guide ring 6 to receive the rear end of the propellant charge 7. Four members 8 secured to the outer surface of the charge, e.g., by adhesive, are adapted to engage the inner wall of the motor and so centre the charge. The support members have bevelled ends to facilitate introduction of the charge into the motor casing. They are of equal length but are successively displaced in the axial direction and are preferably of heat-insulating material, e.g., acetyl cellulose. Means 4a are provided at the forward end of the charge for supporting the charge. A plurality of charges may also be used in the motor 1, each charge being provided with support members and each inserted in individual tubes symmetrically arranged in the motor.
