Abstract

746,059. Ball &c. mills. LIMB, F. Nov. 9, 1954 [Aug. 14, 1953] No. 22479/53. Class 59. In a planetary type ball or like mill having containers 11 arranged to rotate on their own axes whilst revolving around a common central axis, the containers are journalled in a carrier drum 9 mounted fast on a rotary driving shaft 5 and each container has fast on its supporting stub shaft 12 a sprocket wheel 14 or pulley connected by an endless chain 17 or belt to a stationary sprocket wheel 15 or fully surrounding the shaft 5. The containers are in the form of open-topped cylinders to receive mill pots 19 secured therein. The mill is housed in a case 1 having a hinged cover 2. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the drum 9 is replaced by a circular plate and the sprocket wheels or pulleys are enclosed by a dished metal guard. Further, the upper end of each container is journalled in a roller or like bearing.
