Abstract

746,007. Walls; roofs. ARCON (PROPRIETARY), Ltd. May 14, 1954, No. 14281/54. Addition to 648,527. Class 20(4). Cladding sheets A, made of metal and produced e.g. by pressing, are permanently bowed during manufacture to resist any tendency to buckle, or bow outwardly when they are secured to a roof, or wall, framework. To secure a panel to a framework one side edge is first attached by means of a cover strip 1 having an interior T head 2 to receive a fixing bolt 3 as described in the parent Specification, the bolt 3 passing through a hole in a junction strip S and being anchored to a purlin P by a fixing strip 4. An insulation panel 7, when incorporated, is first fixed by means of spring clips 8, 8<SP>1</SP> between the corresponding adjacent junction strips S, whereupon the other projecting side edge of the panel is pulled down and secured in position by means of the next cover strip, the first edge of the next cladding sheet being hooked beneath it before it is pulled tight. When sheets are fitted one above the other the upper sheet can be prevented from sliding down by cutting diagonally into the edge of the lower sheet and bending the resultant triangle outwardly to engage the bottom edge of the sheet above it. The bowing of the sheets may be obtained by a brake pressing operation subsequent to the main profile pressing. Alternatively each sheet may be set by hand.
