Abstract

732,854. Cutting webs. LANGBO, G. Feb. 23, 1953 [Feb. 21, 1952], No. 5045/53. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVI] In a web-winding machine (see Group XVI), a paper web 17 is severed by a serrated knife 16, Fig. 3, each time a roll 18 is completed. The knife is carried by a pair of arms 15 secured to a shaft 14. The shaft 14 carries a wheel 13, Fig. 2, engaging a gear segment 9 rotatable on a shaft 10 and carrying an arm 8 engaging a rotary cam 5. The cam 5 has recesses, e.g. 125, which permit the arm 8 to be rocked by a spring 12, thus rocking the shaft 14 and knife 16 to effect cutting.
