731,866. Regulating. ROWELL, W. G. March 24, 1953 [May 2, 1952], No. 8041/53. Class 7(6). [Also in Group XXVIII] Pressure-responsive throttle control apparatus for the engine of an oil fuel truck driving a positive displacement fuel delivery pump comprises a casing 21 clamping between its parts 20, 22 a diaphragm 24 subjected on one side to delivery pressure from a pump 10 driven through a clutch 4 by the truck engine 2 and on its other side to a spring-loaded plunger 46. The plunger through its rod 46a, a lever 58, flexible cable 70 and a clamp 72 is operatively connected to the engine throttle, so that a build-up in pump outlet pressure opens the throttle to increase the engine speed from idling speed to pump-operating speed. A stop-screw 66 limits the pump speed to the desired value.
