Abstract

730,976. Electrically - heated radiators. HARVEY, H. Sept. 14, 1953 [Aug. 6, 1952], No. 19743/52. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XIII] In a sectional radiator in which each section is formed by joining two half sections along their abutting edges, one of the sections has a longitudinal water space in one half and and an electric resistance heater 17 mounted on an outer wall 15 of the water space and protected by a cover, which includes the complementary halfsection 14. A normal section comprises vertical water tubes 6 between headers. An end halfsection 12, however, is closed by a plate 15 to which is clipped the heater 17 and a superimposed asbestos-lined metal pad 18. The remaining halfsection 14 is detachably secured by screws 19 to the plate 15 to cover the heater assembly. A thermostat extending through the upper header and operating the heater may be adjusted through a closure disc 22. The plate 15 with the heater 17 may constitute a conversion unit for an existing radiator. According to the Provisional Specification the metal pad 18 and plate 15 may have peripheral flanges to form box shapes.
