730,137. Welding by fusion. SARAZIN, J. L. FRACCHIA, [nee SARAZIN], S. A., and MONEYRON, M. July 8, 1953 [July 11 1952] No. 18981/53. Class 83 (4). An arc welding electrode, for welding airhardening steels and nickel-chrome and nickelchrome-molybdenum steels has a core of mild steel and a coating which is capable of incorporating into the metal deposit the following ingredients in proportion to the total weight of the metal deposit:-chromium 19-23 per cent, nickel 8-11 per cent molybdenum 1.7-3.5per cent; the ratio of the outer diameter of the coating to the diameter of the core is between 2.05 and 1.7, and the coating consists of by weight :-conventional coating materials 1800 grams; Cr, Ni, Mo as metal alloy or salt 3300-7700 grams; dry silicate 308-700 grams; dry organic glue 0-100 grams. Preferably the total quantity of Cr, Ni and Mo in the coating comprises the following proportions by weight:-Nickel powder 19-24 per cent, ferro-chromium (60-65 per cent Cr) 63-77 per cent ferro-molybdenum (60-65 per cent Mo or calcium-molybdate) 8.12 per cent. A preferred composition of the coating is specified.
