739,966. Weighing-apparatus. OTIS ELEVATOR CO. March 25, 1954, No. 8721/54. Class 143. [Also in Group XXXVII] A lift comprises a framework 12, 13 in which the cab 10 is supported by rubber pads 30, and at least one electric micro switch 40 actuated when the load in the cab compresses the rubber pads beyond a predetermined value. Preferably there are three such switches operated at different loads, each switch 40 comprising a plunger 65, Fig. 2, moving with the floor of the cab, and co-operating with an adjustable spring- loaded member 67. The rubber pads are preferably bonded to plates at top and bottom to prevent lateral displacement under load.
