Abstract

A composition for use in checking laddering in stockings comprises a dispersion of from 4-10 per cent of high viscosity grade polyvinyl alcohol, water and a solvent, the solvent consisting of at least one organic liquid and boiling within the range 30 DEG to 80 DEG C., the water and the solvent being present in such proportions as to give the composition a viscosity within the range 70 to 18,000 centipoises at 20 DEG C. The preferred solvent is a mixture of ethyl alcohol and ethyl ether.
