Abstract

736,238. Pile walls. SOIL MECHANICS, Ltd., and GLOSSOP, R. Feb. 9, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1953], No. 3612/53. Class 68(2). A wall is formed by constructing cast-in-situ concrete piles 1 which are adjacent to or contact one another, a heavy grout 3 i.e. one having a high cement content, being forced under pressure into the space between adjacent piles, the grout displacing the soil and not penetrating it. The grout may be forced through tubes which are driven into the ground and provided at the bottom with one or more openings. Alternatively each tube may be closed by a plug which is left behind in the ground when the tube is raised.
