Abstract
736,132. Changing signs. SANDRI SKEMATIC SOC. PER AZIONI. Sept. 24, 1953 [Feb. 26, 1953], No. 26295/53. Class 3 (1). A graphical indicator comprises parallelopipedic elements adapted to be coupled together both in a horizontal and vertical direction, each of the elements having an aperture 3 behind which appears indicating marks or signs provided on the periphery of a rotatable member 10 contained within the element and operable through the aperture, filling elements similar to the first mentioned elements but carrying no sign and a demountable frame adapted to contain in a stable assembly all the elements whilst permitting the temporary demounting and subsequent re-composition of the assembly. Each indicating element consists of a moulding 1 having four faces and two sides and with an annular recess in one side containing the rotatable member 10 a segment of the periphery of which is visible through the aperture 3 in one face of the moulding. The member 10 has a plurality of such segments on its periphery separated one from the other by grooves 12, each segment carrying a sign such as a colour, letters or figure and the member also has a plurality of notches 10<SP>1</SP> on its internal periphery equal in number to the sign bearing segments. The member 10 surrounds a central boss 4 of the moulding 1 containing a spring-loaded pin 7 which can engage any one of the notches to retain the member 10 in any desired position relative to the aperture 3. The moulding has two pins 13, arranged symmetrically on a diagonal, projecting from each of its sides, and two corresponding holes 14 on each side on the other diagonal so that a plurality of mouldings can be arranged side by side with the pins of one engaging the holes of the adjacent moulding and with the aperture 3 to the front. Each of the faces adjacent the apertured face has two grooves 15 which can be engaged by strips to connect two rows of mouldings together. The grooves are spaced so that they can also be engaged by the pins 13; the pins of mouldings arranged vertically can then engage grooves in mouldings arranged horizontally as shown for example in Fig. 4. Blank spaces between rows or columns of apertures 3 are provided by the filling elements which are mouldings 1 without a member 10 arranged so that the face opposite the apertured face is visible.
