735,175. Paper &c. made from synthetic filaments; agglutinated fibrous sheet materials. LINGS, J. B. (Roser Ges., C. F.). June 10, 1952, No. 14640/52. Drawings to Specification. Classes 96 and 140. A fleece of thermoplastic filaments, e.g. of polyvinyl products or mixed polymers, polyacryl polyamides, super-polyamides, or cellulose esters or mixed esters, e.g. 4 to 6 cm. in length, is subjected to pressure exerted, e.g., through wire-mesh fabrics of 200 to 400 meshes per square cm. to unite the filaments, e.g. with the aid of heat or of a solvent or a swelling agent, at the points of contact of the filaments with each other. The fleece may be multi-layered with the filaments of different layers at rightangles &c. A coating of the same plastic as that of the filaments may be applied and the product calendered. In one form, the fleece is conveyed between two endless wire fabrics and is pressed against a heated roller on one side, cooled, pressed against a heated roller on the other side, and again cooled. The product may be used for filtering acids &c.
