Abstract

In the manufacture of filaments, threads, artificial horsehair, tows, films and foils of polymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile, the shaped products are submitted to the action of at least one dye or compound capable of giving rise to a dye between the commencement of drawing the product in a wet medium and the first drying following the drawing. Thus the dye may be applied in the drawing bath, or immediately following drawing, or after storing the shaped product in a wet state, or in an oiling or other subsequent liquid treatment bath. The "wet" drawing medium includes water, aqueous solutions and organic liquids containing hydroxyl groups. Dyeing may be effected at temperatures below 100 DEG C., even at ambient temperature, and azo, vat, substantive, acid or diazotizable plastosoluble dyestuffs, including components thereof giving rise to a dyestuff by, for example, oxidation, reduction, diazotization, and acid or alkaline treatment, may be applied.ALSO:In the manufacture of filaments, threads, artificial horse hair, tows, films and foils of polymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile, the shaped products are submitted to the action of at least one dye or compound capable of giving rise to a dye between the commencement of drawing the product in a wet medium and the first drying following the drawing.
