Abstract
Colouring materials in powder form for application to the hair consist of colour particles coated with a substance which constitutes a fixative whereby the particles tend to adhere to the hair, the coating being so thinly applied as to prevent the particles from clogging together and to permit free dispersion of the particles when they are applied to the hair. The coating material may be stearic acid, resins, both natural and synthetic, e.g. colophony resin, fats, stearyl, lauryl or cetyl alcohols, or silicones. The colour particles may be pigments, metallic powders, e.g. aluminium (which may be anodized and coloured), fluorescent materials and mica. The particles may be coated with 1 to 4 per cent. coating material. The coated particles may be mixed with flock.
