Abstract

727,934. Guttering. PEGRUM, J. C. March 2, 1954 [March 3, 1953], No. 5940/53. Class 20(4). Guttering for mounting under the eaves of buildings comprises lengths of plain guttering, Fig. 3, in combination with dual fittings such as unions, stop ends, angles, nozzle pieces, Figs. 2, 1, 5, 6, and drop ends, not shown, which are provided with socket portions A to receive and support the corresponding ends of the gutter lengths and which are provided with bracket portions B having holes 2, 3 for fixing e.g. with screws, bolts, nails, &c., to a fascia board, or the like. The gutter ends are secured into their corresponding sockets A by bolts which pass through holes 6 in the ends of the guttering and through elongated holes 5 in the troughs of the sockets, red lead, putty or the like being interposed between the under sides of the gutter ends and the upper sides of the sockets to provide, watertight joints. The union fitting, Fig. 2, has an annular strengthening rib 11 between its two socket portions A against which the ends of the respective gutter lengths are adapted to abut. The union fitting and the nozzle and angle fittings may also be provided with inwardly projecting ribs, not shown, along the rear upper edges of their socket portions.
