Abstract

727,328. Tilting barrels. HORROCKS, H. June 25, 1953 [Sept. 8, 1952], No. 22463/52. Class 21. Means for tilting beer barrels and other liquid containers comprises a cradle 12 on which the barrel is mounted, a base 10 to which the cradle 12 is pivoted at 13 and a wire spring 19 connected between the base and the cradle tending to lift the cradle as the barrel empties, the movement of the barrel being damped by a friction damper 21, 22. The wire spring contacts the cradle at one end by rollers 15 and is coiled at 18 about the pivot axis 13 before passing into a loop 19 resting on the base 10. Alternatively, a leaf spring anchored at one end to the cradle or base and engaging by means of a roller the base or cradle respectively at the other end may be provided.
