Abstract

712,102. Tamperproof bottle caps. METAL BOX CO., Ltd. Jan. 2, 1952 [March 1, 1951], No. 5012/51. Class 125 (3) A tamperproof cap for bottles &c. which cannot be removed without multilation or distortion has an apertured crown 3 and a skirt 5, the free edge of which has a curl 6 and the curled portion which is turned outwards from the plane of the skirt is bent inwards, when the cap is applied, to grip beneath a shoulder 8. The cap is applied over a plug 2 or over a screw cap or press-cap closure. In a modification (Fig. 8) the cap has arcuate slots 14 terminating in notches 17 so that the material between may be ruptured by levering with a suitable tool and the cap torn off by pulling on the tab 18 formed.
