711,826. Blinds. LISLE, U. L. ORCHARD-, and GIRLING, A. H. G. March 3, 1953 [March 3, 1952; June 12, 1952], Nos. 5463/52 and 14785/2. Class 20 (3) The lifting cord, or cords 21, of a venetian blind are jammed against the pulley casing 22, when the cords are released and tend to run back, by a locking member 26 which rests freely at other times against the shoulder 251 of a retaining-wire 25 The jamming action of the member 26 is initiated by drawing the cords 21, before they are released from the hand, away from the blind so that they contact with serrations 264, the subsequent upward motion of the cords thus entraining the member 26. The casing 22 is secured to the blind head 23 by a screw 24 on which the pulley 20 rotates. The casing has serrated edges to bite into the head 23. To permit the member 26 to rock and accommodate itself to the cords, the pulley-engaging edges are bevelled as at 265, Fig. 5, and the sides 266 are bowed inwardly. A modified form of locking means 26 is shown in Fig. 10.
