[Also in Group XXXVI] The thermoplastic lid b of an accumulator is welded to the thermoplastic container a by means of an electrically heated wire c which is passed between the abutting surfaces g. As the wire moves the material of the lid and container immediately in front of the wire melts and welds together as the wire passes on. In constructions in which the lid enters or overlaps the container as shown in Fig. 3 the heated wire c is passed through the flange e of the lid and the upper ends of the container walls.
