701,964. Twisting filamentary material. KENYON, W. A. Jan. 18, 1950 [March 4, 1949], No. 6043/49. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXV] Each filament of a hard laid cord, such as may be used for fishing lines or chalk lines, has it initial twist removed temporarily by false twist devices before twisting the filaments together at a main twisting station. Pre-twisted filaments F<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>2</SP>, F<SP>3</SP> are passed between driven rollers to a false twisting station FT, which eliminates the initial twist in each filament between the supply and the false twisting station and removes cockles. The twist is'restored to each filament between the false twisting station FT and the main twisting device MT simultaneously with the twisting together of the filaments. A grooved conical guide member 25 may be provided. The false twisting station comprises three rotatable tubes 11, 12, 13 carrying pegs 14, 15, 16 around which the filaments are looped.
