Abstract

701,935. Photo-electric machine guards. RADIOVISOR PARENT, Ltd., IVE, G. A. G., and HUMBER, E. J. Aug. 27, 1952 [June 5, 1951], No. 13274/51. Class 40 (3) A photo-electric machine guard comprises a number of photo-cells mounted vertically above each other at one side of the space to be guarded and a corresponding number of lamps at the other, each cell being provided with a diaphragm so adjustable that each cell receives light from the same number of lamps. As shown eight 6-volt lamps 5 are mounted at one side of a press to be guarded and, with lenses 6, produce a light screen which is received by lenses 8 positioned in front of eight photo-electric cells 7. The cells are arranged in two series-connected sets of four to control a relay which in turn controls the press operating mechanism. In order that each cell shall receive light from a given number of lamps each cell 7 (Fig. 4) is positioned behind a slot 9 the length of which is adjustable by alteration of the position of plates 10 which are provided with slots 17 which slide over bolts 18 and which may be clamped in position by means of butterfly nuts.
