Abstract

701,248. Yarns and threads. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Jan. 3. 1952 [Feb. 9,1951], No. 230/52: Class 120(3) A single-cover elastic yarn comprises a twisted core 10 of rubber or like elastic material around which a thin drafted ribbon 11 of parallel fibres of cotton or other discontinuous fibres such as stapled silk or artificial filaments is laid helically to form a cover 14 and is held in place by a fine high-tenacity continuous filament yarn 12, which may be formed of such material as polyamides (nylon), polyesters, polyacrylics and' copolymers, polyvinyl chloride copolymers, and regenerated cellulose, commercial examples of which are given, coiled therearound. The coils 13 of the high-tenacity yarn may be widely spaced and buried in the cover 14 or they may be visible at the surface of the cover and of contrasting appearance.
