Abstract
708,406. Bracket seats. TAN-SAD CHAIR CO. (1931), Ltd. June 22, 1953 [June 24, 1952], No. 15845/52. Class 52(5) A bracket seat of the kind which comprises an arm pivoted about a vertical pivot carried by a bracket secured to a wall &c. and a seat carried by the pivoted arm is characterized in that the seat proper is pivoted on the arm so as to be moved to a position parallel with the wall when the arm is moved to out-of-use position. As shown, the arm 9a, 9b, 9c is mounted on a vertical pivot 8 carried by a bracket secured to the wall 6 and the seat proper 11 is mounted on a frame 12 having downturned ends 12a, 12b which are apertured to pivot about a spindle 10 carried by the arm. In the in-use position the seat proper 11 is pressed towards the wall 6 by a spring 14 so that the end 12b will engage a projection 15 on the part 9a of the arm so that the seat is secured in horizontal position. In order that swinging the arm towards the wall in one desired direction should automatically also release and turn the seat proper into a position. parallel to the wall, a cam 16 is fixed to the pivot so that turning the arm first pushes the part 12b of the seat frame clear of the projection 15 and then turns the seat 11.
