Abstract

707,479. Walls etc.; building blocks. CHAPMAN, C. Feb. 6, 1953 [Dec. 13, 1951], No. 29203/51. Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1) In cavity walls of the type in which hollow blocks, after assembly, are filled with concrete or the like, the inner blocks A are formed at one end with a groove a<SP>3</SP> to engage a tongue a<SP>2</SP> on the next block, and the outer blocks B are formed at the ends with inter-engaging rebates b<SP>2</SP>, the blocks A, B being tied by ties C which engages slots a<SP>1</SP>, b' in the upper faces of the blocks. The blocks B are provided with inter-engaging tongues b<SP>4</SP> and rebates b<SP>3</SP>. The end blocks A4, B4 are, as shown in Fig. 4, made bull nozed to close the cavity, and corner blocks are formed L- shaped and of different dimensions to suit the bonding requirements of the courses. The lintel blocks are closed at the bottom and some have projecting ribs to close the cavity in the wall.
