Abstract

707,055. Garment waistbands. BROADSTONE SYNTHETICS, Ltd. Nov. 19, 1951 [Dec. 27, 1950], No. 31346/50. Addition to 698,251. Class 141 A garment waistband is provided on its inner face with a plurality of longitudinally arranged adherent beads or relatively' narrow ribs of synthetic rubber &c. which are individually adherent to the fabric of the waistband. As shown, the ribs E may be secured to the braces facing strip A of a trouser's waistband having a canvas backing B. The ribs may be continuous or interrupted, may be straight or extend along sinuous lines and may be indented or serrated. They are preferably deposited in solution with suitable chemicals and the strip may be previously impregnated, or coated with synthetic resin solution. The beads may be applied to a skirt waistband comprising a narrow fabric such as petersham.
