706,386. Temperature-responsive actuating-elements. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Sept. 23, 1952 [Oct. 19, 1951], No. 23787/52. Addition to 699,109. Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXIX] In a thermostat, the thermostatic bellows 40, for actuating the control valve 56 in the liquid-cooling system of an internal combustion engine, is prevented from vibrating by having a dashpot member 74 carried by one end of the bellows co-operating with annular fins 72 in the liquid in the bellows. The bellows is filled with volatile liquid at the temperature at which the valve starts to open and the filling aperture 60 closed by a ball 58 and solder.
