706,248. Supporting tubular lamps. PHILIPS-ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 12, 1952 [Sept. 15, 1951], No. 22952/52. Classes 75 (3) and 75 (4) A fixture for supporting a low pressure mercury vapour discharge tube 1 comprises two clips rigidly secured to a base 6 and capable of embracing the tube firmly at points spaced from the centre of the tube by a distance of not less than one-eighth and not greater than one-third and preferably one-quarter of the length of the tube. Each clip comprises two parts 2, 3 compressed by nuts and bolts, and rubber rings 5 are interposed between the clips and the tube. The contact holders 9 are supported by resilient braces secured to the clips or by resilient strips 8 cut out of the base 6, the strips being integral with the base near the clips ; alternatively the contact holders are supported only by the tube.
