706,123. Boxes. GRIFFITH, G. June 4, 1952 [June 5,1951], No. 13278/51. Class 18 [Also in Group XXV] A bolting device for fastening parts such as the lid or walls of a box or crate comprises a bolt with a flat tail 2, Fig. 2, in a plane tangential to the threaded surface and permanently secured by screws or rivets 5 to the inside of the box. The threaded part of the bolt carries a washer 7 and passes with clearance through the lid 4 that carries on its upper surface a slotted plate 10, pivoted at 11 and taking the thrust of the nut. The end of the slot is bordered by upturned lugs 13, that prevent lateral movement of the plate 10 after the nut is screwed down, and are perforated to receive a sealing wdre. In a modification the bolt is replaced by a pin splined at 18, Fig. 4, to pass a lug 16 on a collar. On pressing the collar down the lug passes fro.m the spline into a narrow cam slot and clamping is completed by rotating the collar. Projections 19 on the collar abut the plate 10.
