Abstract

705,926. Hand-tools for depositing insecticides. PEST CONTROL, Ltd. Feb. 18, 1953 [March 5, 1952; May 6, 1952], Nos. 5771/52 and 11467/52. Class 6 (2) Capsules containing insecticide, fertilizer, or plant nutrients (i.e. trace-elements) are inserted below soil-level by a pointed peg 1 having projections 2, 4 for retaining the capsule 3 during insertion but permitting it to remain in the soil on withdrawal of the peg. The capsules, Fig. 3, are made from sheets of gelatine or similar material disintegrable under soil conditions. One sheet is dimpled at 6 to receive small quantities of the chemicals and the other is sealed to it to form flat flanges which are retained under lugs 2 on the peg 1. The insecticides are phospho-alkyl derivatives of the type described in Specifications 702,607, [Group VI], and 717.610.
