705,326. Clothes lines. MACKENZIE, D. M. Nov. 6, 1951, No. 25904/51. Class 52(5) A strand separating device for a twisted clothes line 10 comprises a body 16 rotatably mounted in a housing 15 and having a transverse shaft 17 on which are mounted grooved pulleys 18, 18a to receive the strands. Apertured caps 30, 32 at each end of the body member prevent dust entering the device and a felt washer 35 cleans the surface of the clothes line as it passes therethrough. A ball-race 23 is provided between the body and the housing. Arms 21 extending rearwardly from the housing secure the device to a pulley 11 supporting the endless clothes line. The pulley may be provided with a brake comprising a pawl engaging teeth spaced around the hub.
