Class 143 [Also in Group XXX] In a weighing-apparatus for measuring the weight of material in the loading skip of a concrete mixing machine, the skip is guided for movement along a rectilinear path during weighing. As shown in Fig. 1, the skip 4 is pivoted about trunnions 6, which may be either pins or anti-friction rollers, by a ram 10, the trunnions being so arranged in slots 7 that, at the top of the lifting movement; they drop in these slots and so jolt the skip to facilitate discharge of material. During weighing, the skip is guided by movement of the trunnions in the slots, and by the engagement of rollers 14 with faces 15. In a modified arrangement (Fig. 2), parallel weighing movement is effected by rollers 32 co-operating with slots 34 in sloping guides 35, and rollers 33 engaging faces 36. To allow for horizontal movement of the skip during weighing, rollers 44 are inserted between the hydraulic weighing device 41 and the base 43. Alternatively, rollers (not shown) may be incorporated in the head 39. A cable 45 effects luffing movement of the skip about rollers 32. Hydraulic weighing-apparatus. The weighing device is as described in Specification 692,092, and consists of a piston and cylinder which supports the skip and is connected with a weightcalibrated pressure gauge.
