Classes 30 and 131 [Also in Group VIIII In a clipper comprising a rotatable oval cam and twc flat blades arranged face to face, at least one of the blades has strengthened inserted part to engage directly with the cam so that the latter oscillates or reciprocates the strengthened blade relatively to the other blade to effect clipping. In the form shown, the clipper has a handle 1 and two disc-shaped blades 3, 4 each provided with a strengthened inserted part to engage directly with the cam 9 so that in operation the blades are oscillated in opposite directions. The strengthened inserted part comprises a cam-engaging plug 15 preferably of hardened metal adjustably mounted within a cylindrical slotted hollow bush 13 welded or otherwise secured to the blade. The bush is rounded at 16 to give clearance for the cam and the inner wall of the plug is rounded to minimize wear. The clipper is operated mechanically, electrically, or pneumatically, through a flexible connector 8. To facilitate lubrication of the plugs. each bush is provided at its inner end with a reservoir for lubricant and grooves lead from the reservoir to the slot therein into which the plug is inserted. Each bush mav be made from a tubular piece of metal with the inner end closed by a brass or other pad or cap to retain grease in the reservoir. In a modification, the blades are reciprocated and each has teeth extending along one side thereof, the blades being reciprocated in opposite directions by means of the cam.
