Abstract
686,476. Fencing. BONE, S. J. April 25, 1951 [Nov. 29, 1950], No. 12964/50. Class 45 [Also in Group XXXVI] An electric fence comprises a web 10 of elongated substantially rectangular form attached at its ends to spaced support members 11, 12 so that it extends therebetween, the web comprising electrically conductive material insulated from the ground, means 13 being provided for feeding an electric current to the web. The webs 10, Fig. 1, are made of wire mesh each web being attached at each end to an angle or tubular section bar 13 through which current is fed to the web. Each bar 13 is connected to a post 11 or 12 by means of a loop of wire 19 which engages a hook 21 on a metal ring 22 which is freely slidable on the post. The ring is covered by insulating material or otherwise insulated so that although there is electrical continuity between adjacent webs they are insulated from earth. The height of the webs are adjustably fixed by means of metal spreaders 26 each of which has hooks 28 at each end to engage the top and bottom strands of a web, the hooks being covered with insulating material. Each spreader is attached at its centre to a ring 24 which may be locked in any desired position on an auxiliary post 23 by means of a set screw. The webs 10 are stretched in position by means of a stem 32, Fig. 3, provided with a bracing chain 34. A turnbuckle 39 is secured between an adjustable hook 36 on the stem, and a second wire loop 20 on the bar 13 and by adjusting the turnbuckle the web may be stretched to enable the first wire loop 19 to engage a hook 21. When a gate is provided it may be electrically connected to the fence by an insulated socket which can engage a hook 21. End posts 12 of the fence may be braced by stays attached to a collar 29 which is adjustably clamped to the post.
